There are certain artists you grow up on… and then there are the ones you need to experience live at least once in your lifetime.
For me, Billy Ocean was firmly planted on that list. So when The Very Best of Billy Ocean Tour came close enough to me… oh, I was there. No hesitation. No second-guessing. Just… GO.
And let me tell you right now… He did NOT disappoint.
From the moment he stepped on that stage, looking good and sounding even better, I knew I was in for a night.
He opened with “One World”… which was the tone-setter right there. Smooth, uplifting, and just enough groove to remind you—yeah, we’re about to go on a journey tonight.
And the crowd? Whew.
This wasn’t no sit-down-and-be-quiet kind of audience. People were so hype just to be in the same room with him, they couldn’t even hold it in. In between songs you’d randomly hear: “I LOVE YOU, BILLY!” And listen… 😂 Billy was eating that ALL the way up. Smiling, acknowledging it, soaking in the love… and honestly, I loved that for him. You could tell he appreciated every bit of it.
Now let’s talk about the MUSIC.
Because this wasn’t just nostalgia… this was quality.
- The band? Tight.
- The vocals? Still there.
- The background singers? On POINT.
And one of them being his daughter? Yeah… that added a whole extra layer right there. Family on stage, talent flowing, legacy in motion… we love to see it.
Now let’s get into this seat situation… PERFECT. I was basically front row center, just behind the pit? Not too close, not too far… just enough to see everything, the expressions, the interactions, the energy. That sweet spot where you feel like you part of the show without needing security to escort you out 😏
The entire night just flowed. Hit after hit… vibe after vibe… no dips, no lulls… just a seasoned performer doing what he does BEST.
And when it was time to close? Oh, you already know… He took us out right…..straight to “Carribean Queen“
The kind of ending where you’re smiling, a little tired, and thinking-
“Yeah… that was worth it.”
