On May 11, 2024, I had the immense pleasure of seeing The Jacksons perform live in their hometown of Gary, Indiana, for the second time. The atmosphere was electric, with fans, friends, and family filling the venue to the brim. The anticipation and excitement in the air were palpable as we all gathered to witness this legendary group.
From the moment Jackie, Marlon, and Tito Jackson took the stage, the energy was wild and welcoming. But the evening held a delightful surprise: Taryll Jackson, Tito’s son and former member of the group 3T, has joined the lineup. Seeing Taryll perform with his father and uncles was a heartwarming moment. He fit in effortlessly, as if he was always meant to be part of the act. It must have been a proud moment for Taryll, performing alongside his dad and uncles, and it added a special layer of family pride to the night.
Adding to the familial feel of the concert, my friend Keith Jackson, a first cousin to The Jacksons, was a guest percussionist. Keith absolutely killed it, bringing an infectious energy that elevated the performance even further.
The music was pure nostalgia, amplified. The Jacksons delivered all the hits we love, each song stirring up memories and emotions. Their performance proved that their music is timeless. Every note, every dance move, and every interaction on stage reminded us why The Jacksons remain such enduring icons in the music world.
This concert was a true family affair. The camaraderie on stage and the connection with the audience made it an unforgettable experience. The Jacksons’ homecoming performance in Gary was a masterclass in showmanship and a beautiful celebration of their incredible legacy. I left the venue with a heart full of joy and a head full of timeless melodies, grateful to have witnessed such a remarkable event.
