Sound Board | Detroit MI
Opening was Detroit’s own Comedian Coco
Kenny Lattimore has always been a favorite of mine but had only seen him once before as part of an ensemble group of artists. I had never seen Vivian Green in concert so this was a special treat to look forward to! When finding out Kenny was headlining this one, I HAD to buy a ticket (2nd row center) and I am so glad I did!!
I admit I was a lil perplexed when Kenny started the show…wondering, where’s Vivian? Usually, the ‘special guest’ opens for the headliner, right? Kenny grabbed our attention from the first note! His band and background singers…ON POINT! My personal highlight was the beautiful acoustic segment which only proved even more…he can SANG!
Speaking on classic/old school music, Kenny began singing Luther Vandross’ “If This World Was Mine”. Something told me that Vivian was going to make her appearance…maybe? Well, THAT she did to complete the duet! The audience was really going wild at this time!! They moved us to the point of goosebumps with that performance! Kenny then eased off the stage so Vivian could do her thing. She performed just a couple of her songs, “Get Right Back To My Baby” & “Emotional Rollercoaster”. She’s a powerhouse on her own! I only wish she could have stayed longer to do more of her music.
Kenny returns to the stage in a full tux and continued blowing us away! The entire evening took us on a phenomenal musical journey showcasing his vocal artistry crossing genres and languages! Besides natural talent, his classical background has made his voice so pure and crystal clear that you just want to hear more and more! I knew he was a great vocalist, but man…..Kenny is not an artist to sleep on when it comes to delivery! If he comes to your city…no need to think about it, just GO!
Opening the night was Detroit’s own, formerly from WDMK-FM 105.9 Kiss, Comedian CoCo. She was so funny! Great adult comedy to get the night started! She is one to look for!
Setlist included: Love Me Back, For You, Stay On Your Mind, Find A Way, Heart Stops, You’re My Girl, You Are My Starship, plus a lil Luther & Sinatra in the mix 🙂
