Fun Experience!
My friend and I embarked on a unique adventure that combined the thrill of an escape room with the charm of a scavenger hunt, all set in the open air of downtown Dayton. The event, aptly named The Oz Escape (by Questo), promised an engaging journey through the fantastical land of Oz, guiding us through various locations via an app. We were to follow hidden clues, solve puzzles, and complete challenges as we walked around town. What we thought would be a brisk 90-minute challenge turned into an epic 2.5-hour odyssey, filled with fun, discovery, and a perfect day of weather. The great part about it, we could go at our own pace and at any time between 10am – 4pm. We decided to go early to get it done.
Setting the Scene
From the moment we arrived downtown, we were immediately immersed in the world of Oz. The app provided us with our first clue, and we set off on foot, eager to solve the puzzles and unlock the secrets all relative to the original story that would lead us back to “Kansas.” Each location was carefully chosen to challenge our problem-solving skills and showcase Dayton’s hidden gems along the way.

Our adventure started at the primary landmark of Downtown Dayton Courthouse Square, where we were tasked with solving our first puzzle. The app’s interface was user-friendly, and the clues were cleverly done, making us feel like true adventurers. From there, we wound our way through various locations thru the area. At each stop, we encountered a mix of logic puzzles, riddles, and quizzes. Some were straightforward, while others required a bit more brainpower and teamwork. The sense of accomplishment we felt with each solved puzzle was fueling our excitement to see what lay ahead.

Finally, after 2.5 hours of non-stop adventure, we reached our final destination and successfully found our way back to “Kansas.” Exhausted but exhilarated, we celebrated our victory with a sense of pride, camaraderie….and a slice of pizza. 😋🍕 The Oz Escape had not only tested our wits but also deepened our appreciation for our community.
