Lucas Oil Stadium | Indianapolis IN

Amazing!

Let’s be real—I almost didn’t make it to this show. I’d been under the weather, feeling like absolute garbage, but when you’ve had tickets for months to see two musical legends—Billy Joel and Sting—you push through. No way was I missing this! So, on February 8, 2025, I found myself at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for the very first time, ready (well, mostly ready) to witness an epic night of music.

First Impressions: Lucas Oil Stadium is HUGE

This was also my first time at Lucas Oil Stadium, and wow—it is massive! Knowing how these big venues can be, I got there early enough to navigate parking without stress. Smart move, because once inside, the place quickly filled up with eager fans. With a start time of 7:00 PM sharp, there was no room for delays. And guess what? They actually started on time! That alone deserves a standing ovation.

A Magical Opening with Sting & Billy Joel

The show kicked off in the best possible way—with both Billy Joel and Sting sharing the stage to perform The Police’s classic Every Little Thing She Does is Magic. Talk about setting the tone! The moment they hit the first notes, the crowd erupted, and the energy in the stadium was electric. This was going to be a night to remember.

Sting’s Set: The King of Cool Delivers

After that explosive opening, Sting took over for his solo set, giving us an hour and 15 minutes of pure musical gold. His voice? Still flawless. His stage presence? Effortless. He ran through an incredible setlist, featuring both his solo hits and The Police classics such as:

  • If I Ever Lose My Faith in You
  • Message in a Bottle
  • I Can’t Stand Losing You
  • Every Breath You Take (which had everyone singing at the top of their lungs!)
  • Roxanne (his signature closer, with a mesmerizing extended outro)

By the end of Sting’s set, I was already feeling a little better—music really is the best medicine.

Intermission & The Piano Man Takes Over

After a 30-minute intermission, it was time for the Piano Man himself, Billy Joel. The stage was transformed to accommodate his grand piano, and the moment he took his seat, the energy in the stadium skyrocketed.

For the next two hours, Billy took us on a ride through his iconic career, delivering hit after hit including:

  • My Life
  • For The Longest Time
  • Vienna
  • Uptown Girl
  • An Innocent Man
  • Only the Good Die Young
  • Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
  • Piano Man (of course!)

And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, Sting came back out for a surprise duet of Big Man on Mulberry Street. Their voices blended seamlessly, and the camaraderie between them was undeniable. What a moment!

The Verdict? Worth Every Second!

Despite feeling like absolute crap for most of the night, I can honestly say the music helped lift my spirits. The energy from the crowd, the timeless songs, and the sheer talent on that stage made every second worth it. I almost forfeited my ticket, but I am so glad I didn’t. The show was phenomenal, the house was packed, and judging by the sea of satisfied faces as we all poured out of Lucas Oil Stadium, I wasn’t the only one who felt it was a night to remember. By the time I made it home (2hr drive), I was beyond exhausted and stayed in bed the next day…literally!

Billy Joel and Sting—two legends, one unforgettable night. Would I do it all over again? Absolutely.
