Triumph Church North Campus | Southfield MI

Clean, Fun Entertainment!
There’s something special about attending a concert that feels a little unexpected; the kind where you walk in curious and leave completely satisfied. That was exactly my experience on Friday, October 10, 2025, attending a truly one-of-a-kind concert event produced by Highly Favored Productions at Triumph Church North Campus in Southfield, Michigan.
This wasn’t your typical comedy or music show — it was a perfectly blended evening of hilarious comedy, smooth jazz, and soulful R&B, all wrapped in an atmosphere that felt welcoming, intentional, and refreshingly different. Louis T. Allen is the founder and CEO of Highly Favored Productions, and what was unexpected, yet much needed, he led the audience in prayer before the show began.
Hosting the evening was Chicago’s own Jeremiah Frazier, known from Laugh Factory and Who’s Got Jokes. From the moment he hit the stage, his humor set the tone, funny, relatable, and clean without feeling watered down. And yes, the fact that this event was held inside a church immediately gave me a feeling that this would be good, wholesome entertainment, and I was absolutely right.
Musically, the night delivered in a big way.
I’ve been following R&B crooner Darnel Alexander and smooth saxophonist Frank B on social media for a while now, always checking their pages to see when I might finally catch a live performance. Well… the universe showed out and placed both of them on the same bill, their first time performing in the Detroit area, no less. That alone made this event feel personal for me.
Darnel Alexander had the audience completely locked in with his soulful vocals, including several Luther Vandross songs that reminded everyone why the internet went viral over him sounding so much like Luther. The comparisons made sense the moment he opened his mouth, smooth, rich, and full of emotion.
Frank B brought that undeniable smooth jazz energy, covering familiar classics on the sax that had the room swaying, smiling, and fully immersed in the moment. His sound was clean, expressive, and perfectly matched the vibe of the evening.
Now, I’ll be honest, I wanted more from both of them. But I also understood that this was meant to serve as a teaser, an introduction, and an opportunity to give them exposure to a new audience. And if Detroit has anything to say about it, I’m hoping this city calls them back for full sets very soon.
The comedy didn’t miss either. Ron Baker, a legend from BET Comic View and Funny Bone, gave us laughs throughout the show with comedy that was sharp, hilarious, and perfectly aligned with the setting. The laughter was constant, the vibe was just right, and the entire evening flowed effortlessly from start to finish.
One of the highlights for me was getting the chance to meet both Darnel Alexander and Frank B after the show. They were incredibly kind, patient, and gracious as fans waited to take photos and share compliments, always a good sign when the offstage energy matches what you see on stage.
Overall, this event was a reminder that great entertainment doesn’t always come in traditional packages. Sometimes it shows up in unexpected spaces, like a church delivering clean comedy, great music, and an uplifting experience that leaves you smiling long after you’ve gone home.
Highly Favored Productions definitely created something special with this one… and I’m already looking forward to the next. 🎶✨
