Intergalactic Experience!
First of all, Missy Elliott has always been out of this world—way ahead of her time. So, when I heard she was bringing her Out of This World Tour to Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena, I knew we were in for an intergalactic ride! And let me tell you, Ms. Supa Dupa Fly herself took us on a musical journey through space and beyond. Buckle up! Upon entering the arena, we were handed these bracelets to wear that had a plastic square with Missy’s name on. Why? No clue at the time, it didn’t ‘do’ anything, but more on that later. First, let’s give some love to the guests who opened the show!
Timbaland was up first, and honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. But man, he hit us with a nostalgia wave, rapping to all the iconic tracks he’s worked on with other artists over the years. Some of them I had totally forgotten about, so it was like revisiting old friends—but with a beat. 🔥
Next, the speed rapper himself, Busta Rhymes. How does he even breathe when he raps?! Seriously, his energy was on a whole different level, and he never missed a beat. Busta showed out, and the crowd was living for every second of it.
Then came Ciara, the Princess of Crunk&B. Um, didn’t she just have a baby? You’d never know it from the way she was moving! Ciara was dancing like there was no tomorrow—choreography on point, energy through the roof, and she didn’t even take a break. I was exhausted just watching her (in the best way possible).
Finally, the main event: Missy Elliott, the legend herself! I still can’t believe this was her first-ever headlining tour. She looked amazing and gave us everything! As soon as her set began, we were blasted into a whole new universe, with Missy taking us through her entire career. From her early classics to newer tracks, the hits just kept coming.
Now, back to those bracelets. You know how artists sometimes ask the crowd to turn on their phone lights while grooving to a song? Well, Missy had a better idea. Those bracelets we got at the entrance? They LIT UP in sync throughout her set, flashing along with the beats and visuals like we were part of the performance! The whole arena was glowing, and we were all like, “Whoa!” Leave it to Missy to elevate the concert experience like that. 💡
And if you’ve seen Missy’s music videos, you already know her visuals are next-level. Now imagine that times a thousand, live and in 3D! We felt like we were actually IN the music videos—trippy, surreal, and so much fun. At one point, Missy even came off the stage and walked through the audience! We weren’t in the aisle for a close-up, but we were *this* close to her, and it was everything!
Missy’s set alone was almost 90 minutes of nonstop energy, and you would never guess this was her first headlining tour. She was a well-oiled machine, just like her spaceship of a stage. She nailed it, her dancers were flawless, her wardrobe was nothing you’d see anywhere else, the music was fire, and we were all vibing in this galaxy of hip-hop brilliance.
It wasn’t just a concert—it was an experience! And Missy made sure to take us on a ride we’ll never forget. 🚀✨
