Qamil “8” Album Release Party

Summary

I had only seen/heard how “soulfully dope” Qamil Wright is once before. But that one time was enough to seek out her music and hear more.  Columbus native, R&B, Soul with Jazzy appeal vocalist Qamil has a sound that gives you an old school vibe that reaches you deep to your soul. Not only possessed with a rich, full tone, lyrically, Qamil is a powerhouse of talent. She writes in a way you can relate to and feel, about life and more often about love and all its facets. 

“8” years in the music game, Qamil recorded her current album aptly named “8”. Qamil had taken a 3-year break from music but she let us know she is back now and throwing a party to celebrate! The album release party began with a cocktail hour, and her signature drink  (I still don’t know what was in it) which was gooood, but I had to pace myself cuz, well….it was a lil too gooood LOL

Qamil began performing songs from the new album promptly at 9:08 🙂 For the next hour we were spoiled being the first listeners of this amazing project. She put her all into each song and it showed. We, the audience were in awe and proud of her coming back around to her love of music and delivering fiercely!  From the intro to the outro “8” is a full package that can be played through, no skips needed. Her first single and video “What We Do” is her ode to LOVE…and that it is!

There was so much genuine love in the room for what we just experienced. The party was a success and it was SOLD OUT. I think Qamil was surprised by that, but why? Girl…if you’re reading this, remember you are “Still Soul Dope” don’t get it twisted and forget that 😉 Thank you for being transparent in your process.
