Hope thru Music!
If you’re like me, when you hear that Stevie Wonder is going on tour, everything stops! Stevie never tours often, so when he decides to roll through 10 cities just before the presidential election, you already know it’s going to be legendary and sold out! With zero consultation on my busy schedule (how dare he!), I just had to squeeze Stevie in. Off to Milwaukee we went for the experience of a lifetime at the Fiserv Forum!
Now, the show was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. but it was closer to 8ish—yes, a late start, but this is Stevie Wonder. The 18,000-seat venue was packed, buzzing with that electric anticipation you only feel before witnessing a musical icon. Finally, escorted to the stage by his daughter Aisha (yes, THAT daughter who became famous at birth on “Isn’t She Lovely”), and son, Kailand, and his sweet granddaughter, Stevie took his seat at the piano.
The night was ready to unfold! Did he sing every single hit he’s given us over the years? I wish! If he did, we’d all still be there—though I’m not sure anyone would have minded! But Stevie covered a diverse range of his classics, keeping us glued to each note. And somewhere in the middle of the show, Stevie took a short break, giving the stage to a powerhouse vocalist named Shalea. Let me tell you—this woman brought the house down! She channeled legends like Roberta Flack, giving us covers so soulful it felt like a warm embrace from music history itself.
After Shalea had our jaws on the floor, Stevie returned to give us even more magic. Between songs, he sprinkled in plenty of humor, wisdom, and this was before the election, thoughts on the state of the world. It’s one thing to witness Stevie the musician, but Stevie the person? He’s every bit the warm, witty soul you’d imagine, lifting us up with laughter and insight. He spoke about hope, resilience, and the future, reminding us all of the importance of using our voices—onstage, in the voting booth, and in life.
By the end, we were on our feet, hearts full, minds buzzing, and voices ready to carry on his message. Stevie’s “Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart” was much more than a concert—it was a night of music, reflection, and unity. And let’s be real, it was a night with Stevie Wonder, so how could it be anything less than incredible?
His set list included hits such as: Master Blaster, You Are My Sunshine, You Are the Sunshine of My Life, For Once in My Life, Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours, My Cherie Amour, Overjoyed, Living for the City, Sir Duke, Isn’t She Lovely, I Just Called to Say I Love You, Superstition, Do I Do, As…and MORE!
