On a perfect, chill evening, music aficionados gathered at Washington DC’s iconic 9:30 Club for a night of soul-stirring melodies and electrifying performances. Headlining the stage was the incomparable, alternative soul artist, Iniko, making their tour debut of ‘The Awakening Tour.’
Before Iniko, we were treated with a sextet of artists. We assumed they were a group, but noooo….6 individual artists in their own right, joined to showcase their vocals solo and together. They were phenomenal!
From the moment Iniko stepped into the spotlight, backed by a great band and dynamic background singers, the atmosphere crackled with anticipation. While some attendees (okay, maybe just me) may not have been familiar with every song, but Iniko’s magnetic presence and infectious energy had everyone hooked, igniting a desire to delve deeper into her music.
Iniko’s eclectic blend of original tracks and reimagined classics, like their soulful, beautiful rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song,” showcased their versatility and artistry. Iniko’s music, infused with consciousness and raw emotion, resonated with the audience, transcending many barriers. Iniko’s set included: The King’s Affirmation, Armor, Jericho, Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire and more!
Throughout the performance, a connection unfolded, as Iniko’s music served as a conduit, uniting individuals of all ages and backgrounds in a shared experience of joy and enlightenment.Despite the generational gap, attendees of varying ages found themselves equally enthralled by Iniko’s performance. Whether young or young at heart, each person in the crowd was captivated by Iniko’s charisma and authenticity, basking in the euphoria of the moment.

The closing song of the hit “Jericho” had the audience on an ultimate musical high!
