Belinda Davids performing ‘”I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston
Phenomenal Performance!

Summary

Recently while surfing on YouTube, a video from a performance at The Apollo was suggested to me.  What was just a random click to play ‘real quick’ turned into a ‘whoa’ who is this woman singing Whitney Houston‘s signature hit, and blowing the audience away?! It was this one moment in time I first heard of South African songstress Belinda Davids.  As I searched around to learn more about her, good luck was on my side, I found out Ms. Davids was bringing her show “The Greatest Love of All: A Tribute to Whitney Houston” to my area in less than 2 weeks! I hurried with a quickness to check for tickets and whew…there was a great seat waiting for me! 😊

The clock strikes upon the hour, and when the first note of the opening song  “Run To You” begins to play, Belinda Davids emerges giving it her all, setting the pace for the treat we all were in for. We were taken on a 2 hour journey featuring the best of Whitney and the 2 hours still went by way too fast. Whether it was the slow ballads, mid or up-tempo dance numbers, Belinda definitely showed out, even had a few moves with the dancers! 😁  Her numerous costume changes were seamlessly executed!  There was no moment of lull; we were fully entertained and engaged from start to finish. Belinda even came off the stage singing through the audience, which was a nice surprise. The stage setup, effects, lights, the amazing band, background vocalists and dancers rounded out one of the classiest productions I’ve seen.

…and then there was “I Will Always Love You”.  Dressed in a gorgeous white gown, Belinda delivered just as I first witnessed on YouTube two weeks prior. WOW is all I can say hearing it LIVE! The chills & feels!! 🥰

Unfortunately, I never got to see Whitney live in concert. Of course, there isn’t nor will there ever be another “Nippy” note for note, but there were times throughout the evening, for a few moments, eyes closed…I could hear Whitney. Her presence was all over that stage.  The entire audience was spellbound with amazement for this talented, beautiful vocalist as shown with not one, but TWO standing ovations! I would love to see this show again and I highly recommend it.
