Christmas Lights of Wonder!
There’s something extra special about holiday moments when they involve family – especially when three generations show up together, bundled up, wide-eyed, and ready for the magic.
This year, I joined my family, from my auntie all the way down to her 2-year-old grandson for a festive night out at Winter Wonderland at Day Air Ballpark in Downtown Dayton. The goal was simple: let our lil one experience Christmas lights in a big way. And let me tell you… mission accomplished. 💫
The occasion? The very first (maybe?) “Deck the Diamond” event. And for a debut, it showed up shining. With over 1.1 million dazzling lights, the ballpark was completely transformed into a glowing holiday playground. The kind that makes adults slow their walk and kids stop mid-sentence just to stare.
And it wasn’t just about the lights, though those alone were worth the trip. The event offered a full lineup of holiday fun, including:
✨ A festive light show
🔥 Fire pits with s’mores
🎡 Carnival games
🚂 The North Pole Express
✉️ Letters to Santa
🎄 Ornament decorating
📸 Photos with Santa and many other photo ops!
🛍️ Holiday shopping
…and so much more
What I loved most was watching generations share the same sense of wonder. The elders reminiscing, the parents smiling through the hustle, and the baby taking it all in like pure magic. Those are the moments you don’t plan; they happen when everyone shows up and slows down together.
Since this was the first-ever event, I’m really hoping it was successful enough to become an annual family tradition. Because honestly? This feels like one of those outings you circle on the calendar every year and say, “Remember when we first went?”
Winter nights, Christmas lights, and three generations together; that’s the kind of magic you can’t manufacture. You just show up for it. ✨🎄
