Clark State Performing Arts Center, Turner Studio Theatre | Springfield OH

Local Talent, Big Stage Energy!
On November 2nd, I had the pleasure of attending a local stage production of To Kill a Mockingbird at the Clark State Performing Arts Center inside the Turner Studio Theatre in Springfield, Ohio, and let me tell you, local or not, this one delivered!
If you’ve never been inside the Turner Studio Theater, it’s an intimate and beautifully designed space tucked within the Clark State Performing Arts Center. The setup allows every seat to feel close to the stage, you’re right there in the action, close enough to catch the subtle expressions, the emotion, and all the small moments that make live theater so special. The lighting, acoustics, and cozy layout make it a perfect venue for storytelling that draws you in completely.
Now, although this was a local production, you would’ve thought these actors were seasoned professionals from a major touring company. The performances were that strong, heartfelt, believable, and deeply rooted in the spirit of Harper Lee’s classic. And even when a line or two got flubbed (it happens to the best of them), the cast handled it with such ease and grace that it barely registered. That’s professionalism, and confidence…well learned.
As someone who genuinely loves the arts, I don’t always want to wait until the big-name, mainstream shows roll through town. There’s something special about supporting and experiencing the creativity that’s blossoming right in your own community. Events like this remind me that amazing talent exists all around us, sometimes just a short drive away.
So, hats off to the entire cast and crew of To Kill a Mockingbird at the Turner Studio Theater. You did an excellent job. I had a great time, and my appreciation for local theater just went up another notch. 👏🏽🎭
