MGM Northfield Park | Cleveland OH
Concert Dream Come True!
September 24, 2022, will forever be etched in my memory — because that’s the night I finally got to see the legendary Sir Tom Jones live in concert at MGM Northfield Park in Cleveland, OH! And let me tell you, the five-year-old me was screaming on the inside (okay…maybe a little on the outside too).
Let’s rewind for a second — I’ve been a Tom Jones fan literally my entire life. According to my parents, whenever his TV show came on, I would lose it — squealing with excitement and sitting wide-eyed through the entire broadcast just to see and hear him. While my memories from that age are a little fuzzy, one thing that’s always remained clear is my infatuation with that voice, that charisma, and those songs.
So when I saw that he was on tour and coming to the Midwest? Say less! I told a close friend and he said, “OMG, you HAVE to go!” Trust — there was zero hesitation on my part. I was going. I was already there in my mind.
I hoped for a meet & greet opportunity (because that would’ve been the ultimate dream), but unfortunately, there wasn’t one available. Still, I knew I was in for something special — and I was so right.
The night of the show, I walked into the venue feeling both excited and strangely nostalgic. Even though I’ve been around a little while now, I was still one of the youngest in the crowd! The ladies sitting near me looked over in surprise like, “Wait — you know about Tom Jones?” I just smiled. “Oh honey… I’ve known about him since before I could tie my shoes.” 😄
As soon as he stepped on stage, the room erupted in applause. And wow — that voice? Still soaring, rich, and unmistakably Tom. He performed all the classics that made him a global icon:
🎤 “It’s Not Unusual”
🎤 “Delilah”
🎤 “She’s a Lady”
🎤 “What’s New Pussycat?”
🎤 “Sex Bomb”
…just to name a few!
Each song felt like a chapter in his incredible journey — and we were all along for the ride. He also gave us a taste of his newer material from the album he’d released just a year prior, “Surrounded By Time”. The songs were soulful and introspective, showing a side of Tom that’s evolved beautifully with time. We listened. We swayed. We felt.
And yes — even at 80+, the man is still a looker! That silver fox energy was radiating across the stage. Though he confessed he wasn’t dancing quite like he used to (he mentioned upcoming hip surgery and a break from touring), his presence more than made up for it. He told stories between songs, making us laugh, reflect, and connect. He’s not just a performer — he’s a storyteller.
By the end of the night, we were all floating on cloud nine. It wasn’t just a concert. It was a celebration of a lifetime of music — and for me, it was the fulfillment of a childhood dream decades in the making.
If Tom ever comes back to my area, best believe I’ll be in the building again — and who knows… maybe next time that long-awaited meet & greet will happen. A girl can dream, right?
Until then, thank you Sir Tom, for making that little girl’s dream come true.

Forever a fan!
