At first look when booking online, this establishment looks very inviting, elegant, clean, etc.
They say "pictures are worth a thousand words", but in this case we should go with "don't judge a book by it's cover". Their gallery of photos represent a hotel that I WISH I stayed in! Don't get me wrong. it wasn't the worse I've seen/stayed in, but going by photos alone, it's very deceptive. The lobby is the most modern part of the hotel! I wouldn't call this a hotel, but maybe an upscale motel at best for what you end up with.
To be honest, this was my 3rd stay here. Yea, I know...to say all I am and continued to book here...what's my problem, huh? LOL
Here's the thing. The ONLY reason I have is ONLY for the convenience of the event I was attending at the Valley View Casino across the street for the 4th Annual San Diego Soul Food Festival
Fridge/Microwave in room
The room, supposedly non-smoking...had a very stale (covered up) smoke stench.
Although we booked the junior suite, it wasn't roomy as you'd think it would be. We didn't dare use the pull out sofa bed.
The fan to circulate the air thru the living area and bedroom was NOT working. The bed/bath area was hot while the other room was freezing.
The decor is old/dated, carpet is dirty/stained, not enough outlets to plug our phones, towels were rough
Don't be fooled by the "Wyndham" name. They all aren't the same quality. If the rooms were as cosmetically updated as the main lobby, it would be an ideal experience. Regarding the $14 for parking shouldn't be a charge at all. It's an open lot where many DO park that aren't staying there, especially when there is an event.
Overall the stay was 'okay'. Nothing exciting about it...it was a night's stay for what we were there for. Not a vacation spot for sure, but it served it's one night purpose. Each visit, we only stayed the night of the event. Next year we may take more time to check out other options.
