An Evening with a Legend!
Summary
Seeing Gladys Knight after so many years was a treat especially it being her own show! Dressed in a red outfit with lace, the ladies sitting near me were like “well go ‘head Ms Gladys”. LOL She looked great, classy head to toe, and sounded WONDERFUL! No opening act, just the Empress of Soul sharing her voice with us thru song and stories from the early classics to the newer. She stated she wasn’t going to talk too much, and true to her word, she didn’t. It was a great balance that the flow of the music wasn’t distracted.
It was an amazing performance. Gladys Knight thoroughly entertained us, made us feel like family hanging out at her home, made us laugh and cry as she reminisced on the artists we’ve lost. She particularly teared up mentioning James Ingram and before we knew it, her background singer began singing “One Hundred Ways”, making us all get emotional. Her band and singers were phenomenal. The interaction with the audience was heartfelt. Bottom line, she still has IT!
My favorite part: When she sang a few songs from the movie soundtrack “Claudine” which I absolutely LOVE! That made my night!
