Bucket list Check-off Event!

Rock Hall Bucket List!

Attending the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on October 19 at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse was like stepping into a dream. For years, this event has been on my bucket list, and now that I’ve finally experienced it, I have one question: Why did I wait so long?!

This star-studded, six-hour, you read that right …SIX HOUR extravaganza celebrated some of the greatest names in music, and while the night was packed with unforgettable moments, a few surprises truly caught me off guard: Queen Latifah, Common and Busta Rhymes performing and honoring A Tribe Called Quest..which by the way, Dr Dre and Method man introduced them! Talk about hip hop royalty in the house!  …and actress Julia Roberts introducing the Dave Matthews Band. Yes, the Julia Roberts! I had no idea she was such a devoted Dave Matthews Band fan. Her heartfelt and personal introduction revealed a side of her we rarely see, and it made their induction even more special.

There were so many moments throughout the night! Honestly, it didn’t feel like 6 hours at all! even with artists I wasn’t familiar with, their introductions and performances still made for a very fun evening! The really cool thing is the LIVE streaming of the ceremony on Disney+ and for those who missed it will be aired on ABC New Year’s Day 2025…showing 3 hours of the highlights from the event.

The Class of 2024

This year’s inductees represented a stunning mix of talent across genres and eras. Here’s the legendary lineup:

  • Mary J. Blige
  • Cher
  • Dave Matthews Band
  • Foreigner
  • Peter Frampton
  • Kool & the Gang
  • Ozzy Osbourne
  • A Tribe Called Quest
  • Alexis Korner
  • John Mayall
  • Big Mama Thornton
  • Jimmy Buffett
  • Dionne Warwick
  • MC5
  • Norman Whitfield
  • Suzanne de Passe

Every inductee brought their own unique legacy to the Hall, from the timeless grooves of Kool & the Gang to the genre-defying brilliance of A Tribe Called Quest.

Performances That Brought the House Down

The performances were pure magic. Highlights included:

  • Dua Lipa, honoring Cher with a radiant performance of “Believe” that had the crowd on their feet.
  • Jennifer Hudson, who delivered a soul-stirring tribute of Dionne Warwick’s classics.
  • Cher, who treated us to “If I Could Turn Back Time” because why not? She’s Cher!
  • Kool & the Gang, with JT Taylor back on vocals, turning the FieldHouse into the ultimate party with “Celebration” and “Ladies’ Night.”
  • Ella Mai and Lucky Daye, who paid a heartfelt tribute to Mary J. Blige, as the lady herself took over the stage!

During the ceremony, they showed a video montage of artists we lost this year. When I first took notice of it…it was on Tito Jackson which was a bittersweet moment for me😢

Would I Do It Again?

Absolutely! This wasn’t just a concert or a ceremony—it was a celebration of music history, culture, and connection. Seeing these legends honored and hearing their stories reminded me why music is such a powerful force in all our lives. If you are a music lover and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony isn’t on your bucket list, it should be. Trust me, this is one star-studded night you don’t want to miss!
