Karyn White's Timeless Musical Journey
It may have been a chilly night outside, but inside, The Ludlow Garage was on FIRE! We witnessed a spectacular celebration of music and nostalgia as the legendary Karyn White graced the stage. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation as fans eagerly awaited to witness the Karyn White Experience, a concert commemorating 35 years of her iconic debut album. Little did we know, the journey Karyn was about to take us on…was nothing short of musical excellence, complete with her 80’s video moves and spins…while wearing at least 5in heels!! 😲
As the lights dimmed and the crowd super hyped, Karyn White emerged, looking stunning in black and bling! One can see how she became a household name in the 80s, she IS a whole VIBE! We knew then, it was going to be an unforgettable night. Her voice was powerful and soulful as ever, Karyn White effortlessly took us back in time as she belted out one hit after another. From “The Way You Love Me” to “Secret Rendezvous” and “Romantic,” each song was a reminder of why she remains a force to be reckoned with in the world of R&B. She even went back to when she was first featured and I first heard her voice….Jeff Lorber‘s “Facts of Love”.
Not only did she give us her all…she had more in store! Midway through the concert, Karyn White invited Cincinnati’s own “Just Vince” to join her onstage for a special duet. Together, they delivered a breathtaking rendition of her classic duet with Babyface, while captivating the audience with “Love Saw It”. I’ve known Vince for years so it was a proud moment to see him shine even brighter!
Speaking of Babyface (no, he wasn’t there) however, Dee, Carlos, and Kayo, members of The Deele, were in attendance! I noticed them walk in before the show, but wasn’t expecting the added layer of excitement! Karyn White took a moment to acknowledge their presence, inviting them onstage to show her appreciation and love for their contributions to the music industry. Maybe they will work together in the future after this reunion of sorts? 🤔
As the night drew to a close, Karyn White left the audience wanting more as she delivered a powerful performance of her anthem, “Superwoman.” The crowd sang along, harmonies blended with hers, creating a moment of pure magic and joint Sisterhood!
But hold up now…the magic didn’t end with the music. After the show, Karyn White graciously stayed behind to meet her fans, signing autographs and taking photos. It was a testament how she genuinely connects with her audience and shows appreciation for their support throughout the years.
In the end, the Karyn White Experience was more than just a concert; it was a celebration of music, love, and the timeless legacy of an R&B icon. We, the audience were still on a high and spirits surely lifted as we left the building! Such a nostalgic night and for me…it was so much more because this was my very first Karyn White concert…EVER! I’m truly thankful to have had the opportunity to see this beautiful icon LIVE and in person!
