The Good Life Tour Delivered!
On a rainy Tuesday night, the Mershon Auditorium in Columbus, Ohio was transformed into a haven of soulful rhythms and electrifying performances. Ledisi’s ‘The Good Life Tour’ was the main event, supported by the charismatic Raheem DeVaughn as the opening act.
Raheem DeVaughn kicked off the evening with an hour-long set that left the audience craving for more. Although I was unfamiliar with his music at first, DeVaughn effortlessly won me over with his engaging stage presence and smooth, melodic tunes. His romantic gesture of showering the ladies with roses added a nice, personal touch to the night.
Up next, draped in a dazzling sparkly dress, Ledisi commanded the stage with an air of elegance and confidence that captivated every soul in the auditorium. Ledisi’s powerhouse vocals and undeniable talent quickly grabbed our attention from start to finish. I only knew maybe 3 of her songs, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the entire performance. One of my favorites “Stay Together” originally recorded with Jaheim, was performed this night with her background vocalist (a huge talent in his own right) …David Michael Wyatt.
After the show Raheem DeVaughn generously offered to meet with his fans, take photos, etc. While I was indeed tempted, the LONG line of eager fans made it clear that it would be a wait I wouldn’t be able to endure especially on a work night. Nevertheless, the opportunity to connect with fans served as a testament to his genuine appreciation and added an extra layer of intimacy to the evening’s vibe.
Whether a die-hard fan or a newcomer to their music, the evening performance at the Mershon Auditorium was an immersive journey of soul music. The overall experience of the evening was much needed to set the tone for the remainder of the week. Ledisi and Raheem DeVaughn made for a good show lineup to create an ambiance of feel-good music that was felt throughout the venue.
