an Online Concert WORLDWIDE
Just...WOW!
Summary
I’ve known and have been friends with Charles “Chuck” Johnson for a number of years from him playing in Najee‘s band. What he did tonight, though…the only word I can think of that would remotely suffice: AH-MAZING !! As I stated in his comments, “he got all dressed up for us, hair did and e’erthang”! Chuck was READY to “do that damn thing” as he says 😂
LIVE from Canada, Chuck (I call him C-Jay 😊) gave us nearly 3 hours of singing/playing his guitar from his living room! It was so cool of him to encourage song requests the days leading up to the Facebook Live event. No matter the genre, Chuck can perform it; Rock, Blues, Pop, Country, R&B and Soul, we heard it all tonight! He doesn’t just sing a song… he has a knack of effortlessly adding his own flavor to make any song his.
This concert was like a reunion, especially for Chuck, I believe. The live stream attendance were his family, long time friends, former/present band members and his fans who have been following him forever. He interacted with us as the comment section showed so much love and appreciation to him for this much needed escape from the ‘world’.
The highlight were Chuck’s kids, Maddie and Garrett joining him on “Bring a Little Lovin” by Los Bravos. Such wonderful surprise music guests they were! Them Johnson kids got that talent honest! 😉
The following are most of the selections Chuck performed for us: “Lets Stay Together” & “For The Good Times” by Al Green, “Ramble On” by Led Zepplin, “Jumping Jack Flash” by The Rolling Stones, “Civil War” by Guns & Roses, “The Thrill Is Gone” by B.B. King, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen, “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers, “Nothing Compares 2 U” by Prince, “Rocket Man” by Elton John, “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye, “American Woman” by Lenny Kravitz, “The Music In Me” by Triumph, “The Boys of Summer” by Don Henley, “One Piece at a Time” by Johnny Cash, “Business Time” by Flight of the Conchords, “Sunshower” by Chris Cornell …and MY request was any song of his choice by Maxwell, the song was “Changed” and I loved it! 😊
The show was perfectly imperfect because Chuck had a few technical issues; audio, video, a couple of “whoops” and a backdrop change here and there (LOL) plus having to start again a couple of times. However, none of that kept us from having a great time and enjoying every second. It was kinda like attending a real concert event with each stream.😁 There was an intro, the first set, then ‘intermission’, and another set. The final segment was the finale/encore which touched my soul to the core as well as others going by the comments. Chuck shared why he was doing this (clip above), which I ’bout lost it on, but…I remained composed. 👍 Chuck then put away the guitar, sat at the piano and closed out with a song he dedicated to us, “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” by Elton John which he sung sooo beautifully with such emotion. And THEN….yep… I lost it 😢
Overall, The Charles Johnson Experience was all that in spite of the glitches! I finally got a glimpse into more of what makes C-Jay come alive! The only way it would have been better is if it happened LIVE & in person.
C-Jay, thank you for saving our lives tonight by giving us YOU!
BRAVO 👏👏
